THE TRENTEMØLLER CHRONICLES + Trentemøller Live in Concert North American Tour Dates

Friday, September 21st, 2007

trentemoller_chronicles.jpgWe are happy and proud to present THE TRENTEMØLLER CHRONICLES. This new double album is not a new studio album, but – as the title indicates – an overview of Trentemøller’s impressive body of work. The Trentemøller Chronicles include Anders’ personal selection of his best songs and remixes, which have only been available on vinyl or on compilations, as well as some new and exclusive songs. But the fantastic Trentemøller mix on CD1 and the fine selection of remixes on CD2 make this release a great double album in its own right for extraordinary listening pleasure.

Trentemøller and his live partner DJ “Tom” Bertelsen played more than 100 shows over the last one and a half years with their raving and energetic live sets mainly based on Trentemøller‘s dancefloor singles. But now we are happy to announce a very special tour: “Trentemøller Live in Concert”! For the first Trentemøller and the band will perform the tracks from the album The Last Resort live on stage!

It’s almost exactly one year since Anders Trentemøller’s debut album The Last Resort (on Poker Flat) took the hearts of music lovers worldwide by storm. At that moment in time the Danish producer had built his outstanding reputation on many huge dancefloor hits such as “Rykketid”, “Polar Shift” and “Sunstroke”. Seemingly out of the blue The Last Resort left all expectations for an electronic dancefloor album far behind and presented a stunning organic, emotional and beautiful masterpiece of cinematic proportions, earning a wealth of rave reviews and critics’ awards, as well as “Album Of The Year” plaudits in many music magazines.

“Trentemøller is not only a dance floor genius, but a musical mastermind in the broader sense. Killer release!” (DJ Times); “Genius and visionary!” (Intro); “This is sultry, sexy music.” (Pitchforkmedia.com); “This is a seductive album full of moody and mysterious music.” (New York Times).

The second angle on Trentemøller’s creativity is the remix work he’s done for other artists. It’s the “Trentemøller twist” he adds to songs like Röyksopp’s “What Else Is There?”, Moby’s “Go” and many others which have made him one of the most highly sought after remix artists around. Whether on his own tracks or in his remixes Trentemøller loves to create antipodes. The tracks on The Last Resort reveal an organic combination of hand-played instruments and electronica sounds. Every tune is carefully thought out, but the end result seems totally natural. In his dancefloor tracks Trentemøller layers on more and more sounds and instruments which fall perfectly into place in spite of seeming dangerously incompatible at the same time. Trentemøller managed to develop his own signature sound and some of the fascination of his music lays within the contrast between large and vast echo chambers and sharp, direct in-your-face sound bites.

As the new songs and remixes Trentemøller has produced following The Last Resort have yet to be released, or, like some of his best tracks and remixes had only been available on vinyl-12”, if at all, or were scattered to the four winds, it was high time to appreciate a fantastic producer with this new double album: The Trentemøller Chronicles. This collection contains Trentemøller’s best songs and remixes as chosen by Anders himself – with the exception, of course, of the songs which already appeared on The Last Resort.

The first CD has been mixed and compiled by Trentemøller, flowing effortlessly through his own songs (and one remix). New and unreleased songs like “Klodsmajor” and “Blood In The Streets” alongside tracks such as “The Forest”, “Kink” and “Gush” which were originally released on Danish labels on vinyl format only have been selected as well as tracks like “Rykketid”, “Physical Fraction” and “Killer Kat”, some of Trentemøller’s biggest dancefloor hits on Poker Flat Recordings and Audiomatique. Of course, the Trentemøller remixes of the vocal versions of “Moan featuring Ane Trolle” and “Always Something Better featuring Richard Davis” find their rightful place on this selection. Also included is the “Live Version” of “Snowflake” (a track from “The Last Resort”) as well as Trentemøller’s brand new remix for Klovn’s “McKlaren”, available here on CD for the first time.

Due to popular demand and as a special bonus the album also includes the radio edit of “Moan” from the stunning video based on the story of the dog Laika and its sad journey into orbit. However, all this attention to detail shouldn’t conceal the fact that this is simply a fantastic Trentemøller album, thanks to Anders’ editing and his beautiful mix on CD1 which is a wonderful journey through the soundscapes of a brilliant producer and is sure to please fans of The Last Resort.

The second CD features Trentemøller’s best remixes as compiled by Anders and highlights the versatility of this great producer. Starting with Trentemøller’s classic and timeless take on Röyksopp’s “What Else Is There?”, the remix CD offers blistering and powerful dancefloor cuts such as “Coincidance” (Mathias Schaffhäuser), “Feeling Good” (exclusive Chronicles edit by Trentemøller) (Jokke Ilsøe) and “Flamingo” (Tomboy), milestones like “We Share Our Mother’s Health” (The Knife) and freaky slamming Electro-House mixes like “Want 2 / Need 2” (Sharon Philips) and “Konichiwa Bitches” (Robyn). The stunning heavy rocking bass remix for “Danger Global Warming” is a donation to a project to raise awareness of climate change. By way of contrast, the remix CD also contains the beautifully floating and dubby mix of “You And I” (Filur) and “Les Djinns” (Djuma Soundsystem). Not forgetting, of course, the magic remix of Moby’s mega-hit “Go!”.

Packed with astounding tracks, this double album offers a fascinating insight into the musical evolution of one of today’s supreme electronic producers. Guided through his impressive body of work by Trentemøller himself, this is a valuable addition to any fan’s collection and a perfect introduction to anyone keen to find out more about the artist and his oeuvre.

“ANDERS TRENTEMOLLER, a Danish producer and D.J. whose sleek, vaguely menacing tracks and remixes have earned him a devoted following in Europe, and a devoted (but much smaller) following in America, too. [The Last Resort] is moody, mysterious music, and like many meticulous dance-music producers from Europe, Mr. Trentemoller finds ways to hint at two very different places at once: a nearly empty bedroom and a not-at-all-empty nightclub.”

John Digweed: Transitions Vol. 3 [review]

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

digweedtransitions3album.jpg This neatly packed double disc contained in a nice little CD package, with John on the cover, stares at you with those eyes that literally seem like they can see what you are thinking. They are not menacing eyes, but serious enough to stare back at you with the passion of the man, and his third installment of this ‘Transitions’ series.

It has to be asked yet again, exactly what is this ‘Transition’ that is taking place. If it’s one of some personal journey, a realization of the expanse of new technology, or some transition out of this passe phase of minimal sound development, and back into this knowingly conscious stream of becoming in depth with sound and intricate design — once more learning to envelop and develop these sounds with orchestral detail.

We can hope for the latter, and that after this journey is complete, that this transition takes us into a re-invention of sound for the better — that this personal map so valiantly laid out for our ears and minds to expand upon, continues to lead and push us through these barriers we like to call progressive music.

This double disc comes with an intricately mixed 20 track disc one, and a long 25 min extended mix of John’s – ‘Gridlock’ comprising of the entire disc two, plus some ‘exclusive unseen’ bonus video footage.

Disc One starts us off with the soothing melodic input of Sasha’s ‘Coma’, which sets the mood of this ‘Transitions’ series installment. Let’s be clear about this, it’s not a dance ready disc. It’s a home listening disc best for headphones and late nights with the incense on; this type of disc is waiting for the listener to ponder over it’s intricate track details. The mood throughout winds quite nicely up through the various landscape textures and beyond, for those that can attain some wisdom from this 20-track journey.

Trained ears may hear the details of track advancements, and track selection does continue mostly unabridged. The nature of many fittingly tracks packed neatly into this compilation, however, naturally brings much needed quick-conflict resolution to continued track flow, instead of stronger, more structured, longer elements. This may or may not come as a surprise to those longing for deeper structured days. Instead, this disc says to you that the real ‘Transition’ is in the tracks — and even though they may be quick to develop, and often quick to end, each track leads us onto the overall elemental flow.

This disc remains quite intricate, but I can’t say it’s overly challenging either and remains on it’s own quite trying to gather itself. And other than a great showmanship of the experience in track programming and selection, there are a few standout gems like Someone Else – Lowdown Brittle (Wink’s Mix) (#16 of 20 tracks), which comprise the peak of this disc, giving great appeasement to ears that long for the darker and stronger elements, beneath these brittle brittle transitions.

Disc Two makes up the opposite extreme, with a long extended mix of ‘Gridlock’ and unseen video from John’s show at the Mayan, LA — available by inserting the disc two into your computer’s cd-rom player. If you were there you’re probably on this footage somewhere. The fact that Nick Muir is also on this track is reason alone to make it worth the listen. Although the glitchy sounds make the footage annoyingly twitch, and the lack of multiple camera views limits the end-editing, the overall feel of this particular night in LA is there, and probably serves as a memorable experience for those at witness.

This track ‘Gridlock’ — laid out as a 25 minute showcase, has the opposite transitional extreme of soundscape development. The glitch-laden intrinsic elemental sounds, comprise a transition within a single track landscape, unlike the multiple track transitions offered on disc one. A ying to the yang of sorts, and probably a reason why one disc is white and the other is black.

Overall this double disc in part three of the series, can be explained as a true intricate experiment — a pressure-led personal journey of sorts, but one that needs to be done. As if to ask, does true ‘Transition’ lie within the strong elemental bonds of continued creative landscapes developed over time — or in punchy sounds laid out on quick moving playlists?

Layo & Bushwacka! GU33 RIO

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

gu033_coversmall.jpgLayo & Bushwacka’s inaugural mix for Global Underground gives a lesson in proper dance classics and dark electronica!

Release date set for US Release October 23rd, 2007!

New York, NY (September 14th, 2007) – Layo Paskin & Matthew ‘Bushwacka!’ Benjamin’s love affair with music began as teenagers at the dawn of the acid house era. It has led both of them on a journey through techno, breakbeat, electro, dub, electronica, and any other pigeonhole in its wake. They have emerged almost two decades later with a sound that fuses their influences and solidifies their position at the anterior of the genre. It is that same outlaw spirit of eclecticism that still forms their mad five hour DJ sets, whether it is at their spiritual home The End Club in London, a beach in Brazil (the inspiration for this album), or at a super club in Ibiza. It is this same passion that turned the limited edition ‘Untitled’ in to the global anthem, becoming ‘Love Story’, crashing onto the music charts worldwide in 2003, including the UK Top 10.

With this eclectic sound it is only fitting that GU 33 migrates to Rio de Janeiro. It is famous for its spectacular natural setting, its Carnival celebrations, samba and other music, hotel-lined tourist beaches, such as Copacabana and Ipanema, paved with decorated black and cream swirl pattern mosaics. Some of the most famous local landmarks in addition to the beaches include the giant statue of Jesus, known as Christ the Redeemer (’Cristo Redentor’) atop Corcovado mountain, which has recently been named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; Sugarloaf mountain with its cable car; the Sambdromo, a giant permanent parade stand used during Carnival; and Maracan stadium, one of the world’s largest football stadiums. Rio also boasts the world’s largest forest inside an urban area, called Floresta da Tijuca, or ‘Tijuca Forest’. Rio is a place that knows all about a mixture of the tradition and development.

To celebrate this dynamic, Layo & Bushwacka! offer up a mix of the old and the new. CD 1 is a treasure trove of classic, lost gems, and defining moments in the evolution of house and techno. Ellis D rubs shoulders with Marshall Jefferson via Daou, Lil Louis, DJ Pierre, Francois K, and Eddie Flashin’ Fowlkes are all present, as are the likes of Cajmere, Detroit’s Kenny Larkin (with a rare Hawtin mix of ‘We Shall Overcome’). If you want to know how we came to the music you hear today, then this is no better introduction.

CD2 is all about more recent and forward-facing bumpy, electronica. Phonique, Pier Bucci, Guy Gerber, Stefan Goldman, Martin Buttrich, and Henrik Schwarz are all included for your listening pleasure. Also included in the mix are a host of Layo & Bushwacka’s own material, including ‘Tabloid’ and ‘Saudade’.

Layo & Bushwacka! will be throwing the Global Underground Rio Launch Party at The End & AKA on Saturday 6th October. In the main room Layo & Bushwacka! will be joined by exciting German talent Daso performing live.

Interview with Ferry Corsten

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

ferry.jpgWith only 4 weeks to the Amsterdam Dance Event, we caught up with top Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten to see what he thinks of the event….

Q: You are also a well respected producer, are you releasing any of your own productions this year
or are mixing any compilations?

Yes, I’ve released two singles this year, first was one called Beautiful which is from my artist album L.E.F, and a new track called Brain Box (it’s known in the NL as the Race). I’ve also released two compilations this year. Passport United States of America which is the sequel from the first Passport compilation: Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Dance Valley 2007 compilation.

Q: The scene has changed a lot since you started out. How have you been able to stay at the top of your profession?
I go my own path and believe in what I do. I try not to follow.

Q: In your opinion who are the next big DJ’s coming up from
Holland?
Through his hit, Fedde Le Grand has been definitely playing all over the world. I do see him definitely coming up.

Q: You will be hosting your own panel at this years ADE. Tell us a bit about it and why you decided to get more involved.
I will be doing a Q&A with Buma Stemra. Buma Stemra is the Dutch copyright organization which is the main sponsor of the ADE. I am a fan of this organization as it protects the copyright of Dutch music very well internationally. I’ve always participated regularly with
ADE in the last couple of years in either the day or night program or both. The
ADE is a great place to network with fellow producers, record labels and offers a lot of potential business opportunities. Although the organization, Buma Cultuur supports Dutch copyright, over the years, the convention have seen an increase of international companies and producers joining every year.

ferrycorsten.jpg

Q: Where can we see you DJing during ADE and what can we expect from your set?
I’m actually taking it easy this year and not doing the evening program. I’m busy preparing for an event I’m doing with UDC called Dance Valley (www.fullonferry.com) which is the week after ADE.

Q: Why do you think ADE is such an important event on the music industry calendar?
Because it allows you to have a chance to meet many of your contacts that you have been talking to over the phone or through the internet for months and may have never met face to face. It is also a great way to play catch up with your various partners in a relaxed setting.

Q: What impact do you think ADE has made on the music industry as a whole?
Whereas other conferences over the years have concentrated more on the entertainment aspect, at ADE, entertainment AND business are equally important.

Q: Have you attended or played at any other music conferences and if so, why are they important for you to attend?
I am also a regular at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, my label Flashover Recordings also participates at Popkomm in Germany. I think it’s important as a label to be present in these conferences as it does allows you to network with other labels or sign artists/tracks. As an artist it is a good way to network with other artists, through those meetings come up with new collaborations and create extra awareness in those various countries.

Q: What would your tips be to anyone going to a music conference for the first time so they can get the most out it?
If you are going as a producer, I would definitely check out the Dutch D3 day. I would also scan the day program to see what panels would interest you. I would also tell them to check out the online delegates list on the ADE website and contact companies you think you would be able to work with. Don’t forget to bring your repertoire to hand out to labels.

Q: Some of the biggest DJ’s in the world are from the Netherlands. What do you think makes Dutch DJ’s so successful?
Because we’re Dutch? ;-)

Q: What tips would you give aspiring DJ’s to get started?
Learn how to mix with any type of mixer in any situation. In this line, there are so many things that you come across that you have to figure out how to do it and do it right…regardless of everything being arranged.

Q: What else can we expect from Ferry Corsten in 2007.
Well, 2007 is almost over, but aside from doing the Full on Ferry event in Rotterdam on the 27th of October, I am taking it easy for a couple of months to be in the studio to work on my next album.

Shlomi Aber – State of No One

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

shlomi aberRenaissance announce the release of their first artist album with one of the worlds most exciting producers – Israel’s Shlomi Aber…

Following on from the success of ‘Crop Duster’ and current single ‘Moods’ Renaissance and Shlomi Aber continue their close-knit relationship to release their first artist album together – State Of No One.

“It felt right taking this step” says Shlomi. “We both wanted to keep the traditional dance stuff to a minimum and do something a little different. The idea of producing a whole album of beautiful (hopefully!) electronica really appealed to me.” And the prodigious Israeli has been true to his word.

Over 12 tracks totalling 50 minutes, he demonstrates a fresh, exciting new angle to his production cannon. From the haunting swell of opening track ‘Looking In God’s Eyes’ the album quickly confirms this is electronic music at its contemporary best, a marriage of Shlomi’s distinct production technique, local influence and collaboration.

On ‘Eastern Breeze’ he draws on the sound of the ‘oud’, a rare domestic instrument from the Yemen, to create a suggestive piece of audio espionage, whilst ‘Don’t Be A Fool’ tips a wink to Thom Yorke with vocalist Guy Mantzur’s (who’s previously recorded tracks for 6 Feet Under, Nip / Tuck and MTV’s The Real World) seductive lyrics juxtaposed against glitched melody and fractured beats.

‘Moods’ shows up in a brand new guise, recorded exclusively for the album, as does ‘Sea Of Sand’, Shlomi’s famed Guy Gerber co-production. As the album rounds toward the finale, ‘Random Fiction’ provides a fitting platform to showcase the exquisite vocals of Anat Ben Homo.

‘State Of No One’ is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated albums of 2007, one that excites, challenges and surprises in equal measure. “Its contemporary chill-out” Shlomi elaborates, “I don’t want to find a genre for it, I just hope people like it.”

This is… Sander Kleinenberg

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Sander Kleinenberg is a man who needs little introduction, between his many roles as DJ, label boss and producer he also finds time to host parties under his ‘This Is…’ moniker. With residencies ranging from his native Amsterdam via Paris, Ibiza and Miami, and alongside countless individual and headline appearances, Kleinenberg has delivered his unique musical vision to the world.

Sander himself expands, “I have always battled the idea of genres and labelling that goes on in today’s world. Versatility makes a DJ strong. It makes it easier for us to adjust to different rooms, different countries, a different audience, different atmospheres in general.”

It’s this versatility that provides the backbone to the first ‘This Is…’ compilation. “It’s like a puzzle”, he says, “You have 28 pieces and somehow you have to make it all work together.”

And what a puzzle – between each 14-track mix – Left & Right – he weaves a diverse selection of labels and artists sourcing the likes of Disk Jokke from Get Physical off-shoot Kindisch, Tom Novy’s personal tribute to Sander on his ‘Moscow Never Sleeps’ remix and the excellent Gui Boratto re-work of Robert Babicz’ ‘Sin’ – and that’s just the first disc!

Turning ‘Right’ we find an acapella from Italy’s Siciana Soul marrying Rhythm & Sound, Nic Fanciulli’s incredible remix of Martin Eyerer & Stephan Hinz, Motorcitysoul taking on David K to stunning effect plus the much hyped Dubfire interpretation of Smith & Selway’s ‘Transit Time’. As Sander perfectly sums up, “It’s about merging genres and creating new ones. Enjoy!”

Underwater Records Solo Series 2: Yousef

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

underwater-yousef-artwork.jpgUnderwater Records is proud to present the second installment of their solo series with the prodigious Yousef.

This 2 CD album is set for release on the 22nd October 2007 and is a one-take studio mix of a 3 hour set that is a true reflection of Yousef’s diverse talents.

Yousef is a name synonymous with slick, jackin’ sleazy beats, edged with an aggressive boundless technical ability. However, Yousef shows how he now crafts a 3 hour set… how his musical direction has grown. “I wanted to show my musical spectrum, enjoying and including deep house, electronica, techno, rave and all stops in between with a sprinkling of vocals and my own productions” says Yousef. It is a lot more electronic than past compilations, with less funk and more drive, more depth and musical content while maintaining a raw energy that you can only really achieve with a live set.

The first thing that impresses is Yousef’s track selection. Many have been chosen because they have been big for him this year. Among his tested tracks are beauties from DK7, Trentemoller, Layo & Bushwacka and Mathew Dekay. They are all part of Yousef’s sets at Space this summer and with his perfect programming, he has been setting dancefloors ablaze.

CD1 starts off with DK7 – ‘Instone’ with its ominous chanting of “love your creation” (very apt) with its minimal beats, it sets the steady tone of the album preparing you for the onslaught! Bushwacka’s powerful remix of Blake & Monroe’s ‘summers gone’ tantalises the senses with dulcet tones and creates an atmospheric and acid-tinged mood to the mix leading on to Carl Craig’s take on Siobhan Donaghy’s ‘Don’t give it up’ – very Space terrace.

Yousef never loses his acid roots, his love of bleepy noises is apparent throughout and the feeling that is evoked with I-Cube ‘Acid Tablet’ is HUGE. It builds and builds, very techy and very moorish; you just want more and more. Yousef continues to fuse many different elements of house music but does it with such devastating effect and manages to retain a fluidity and consistency that is genius, especially when he drops Dennis Ferrer’s ‘Son of raw’ and then flips it around again with some moody basslines from Claude von Stroke vs Audiofly.

CD1 then takes on a more warped and distorted, fresh and nasty sound with cuts from Layo & Bushwacka and Josh Wink that creep into your bones and rests on a techno fuelled high that would be home at Cocoon, building you up and then stripping it back and starting all over again… This is where it truly changes tempo.

As this is a continuous mix, CD2 picks up where CD1 left off, going from Dubfire’s much-hyped ‘Roadkill’ into Pier Bucci’s ‘Hay Consuelo’ which has been remixed by producer of the moment, Samim. It smooth’s down then goes nuts! Danny & Nick Chatelan’s ‘Givin’ Love’ gets you going, making you want to jump up and down! Digitalism ‘Jupiter room’ is a pure acid bass laden belter! Throbbing and relentless.

Yousef’s ‘Approach’ melts into Mathew Dekay’s ‘timeless’ and the effect is shocking to the system. The simplicity of the track is stunning. Approaching the end we have Yousef’s take on his ‘Spooky’ track with Quentin Harris’s ‘U don’t know me’ layered over it – an excellent twist on a classic track. A preview of Yousef’s own ‘My own best myself’ appears here first (which has been Carl Cox’s stand out track this season worldwide). Ending on a warm musical vibe Joris Voorn’s ‘Blank’ you really do feel like you have been there, in the club with Yousef. It does not feel like a studio album – it is very real.

Yousef’s wild days are behind him (he says with a twinkle in his eye) and running is more important than raving (he currently runs up to 40k a week). This leaves time for Yousef to get his head down in the studio and make great records to road-test in warm countries. “The priority for me is to continue making hot records”, he nods. “People are playing what I’m into – I’m developing a broader taste.” The kind of music that pricks up the ears of people like Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler, Roger Sanchez and Deep Dish, all of whom have been heavy supporters of Yousef.

Underwater the label (now thirteen years old) was started by Darren Emerson in 1994. Initially to release records for his friends, the label has, since it’s inception, seen releases from Emerson himself, Steve Mac, Wally Lopez and Tim Deluxe – whose releases ‘Sirens/ We All Love Sax’ and ‘It Just Won’t Do’, put Underwater firmly in place on the independent label spectrum. In 2007 the label is still bubbling with signings including D. Ramirez, Deepgroove, Magik Johnson and Ingo Staar. With over 100 releases up their sleeve, Underwater show no signs of slowing down. Very much keeping their finger on the pulse of today’s current climate of cool…

With a string of international dates to support the release (dates below), prepare to be dazzled by Yousef in a town near you…

The Crystal Method Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary with “Vegas” (Deluxe Edition)

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

The Crystal Method Celebrate 10-Year Anniversary of their ground-breaking debut album ‘Vegas’ with the release of ‘Vegas’ (Deluxe Edition) on September 18th.

This double CD set features remastered original releases, rare & live recordings and remixes by Paul Oakenfold, MSTRKRFT, Hyper and more.

In their decade-long career, THE CRYSTAL METHOD have sold over a million albums, scored a Grammy nomination and collaborated with everyone from Ozzy Osbourne to Scott Weiland to Ol’ Dirty Bastard. They headlined the Hollywood Bowl, rocked Coachella and played a fashion show in Milan for Donatella Versace. Meanwhile, their songs appeared in countless video games, movies and television series. Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland, who are THE CRYSTAL METHOD, even spent a surreal night in the Los Angeles County Jail. But before any of that happened, they made Vegas, their debut album from 1997. Marking its 10th anniversary, Jordan and Kirkland have reassessed and readdressed the long-player that started it all with VEGAS (DELUXE EDITION), which will be released via Geffen/UMe on September 18.

The two-disc deluxe set offers a fresh mastering of the original ten songs on the first CD. The second CD highlights a selection of rare and live recordings plus new mixes of classic Vegas tracks from remixers personally chosen by the duo such as Paul Oakenfold, MSTRKRFT, Hyper, Sta, Deadmau5, Koma & Bones, Tom Real vs. The Rogue Element and Myagi. Also included is the original 1993 version of the Vegas single “Comin’ Back” with the video for the album version along with the video for “Busy Child.” Preceding the deluxe edition’s release, “Busy Child” (Sta remix) will be available on iTunes as of August 28.

Vegas put the Las Vegas natives at the center of an electronic music scene previously occupied almost exclusively by trailblazing Brits such as Underworld, The Prodigy and Groove Armada. Inspired in equal parts by Jordan and Kirkland’s late night outings in the early days of the Los Angeles rave scene and their reassuringly humdrum upbringing in the Las Vegas suburbs listening to everything from disco to hip hop to metal, Vegas is a different kind of techno record. It’s got soul. “One thing people have been telling us for the past 10 years is that Vegas was the first thing to get them into electronic music,” Jordan says. “We just came up with a sound that bridged the gap between alternative and electronic music.”

The complete track listing for THE CRYSTAL METHOD’s Vegas (Deluxe Edition) is:

Lee Burridge ‘Balance 012′ + Worldwide Tour Dates Announced!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

packshot-lo.jpgBalance 012 mixed by Lee Burridge is a sublime a collection of house rhythms, techno beats and subtle melodies, culminating in a deep, beautiful, dark, trippy and wobbly soundtrack. Featuring a wide array of cutting edge artists including Martin Buttrich, Jose Padilla, Dennis Ferrer, H-Man, Paul Daley, Alexi Delano, Efdemin, Gabriel Ananda and more, this is a 3xCD that will deliver the complete Lee Burridge experience in one package.

EQ Recordings continue onwards and upwards with their cult-like Balance series in an ever evolving manner bringing you the next installment mixed by the wandering minstrel of dance music; Lee Burridge. Revered the world over for his eclectic track selection and seamless skills, it’s a genuinely difficult task to pinpoint Lee’s ’sound’ – although according to the man himself its perhaps best described as “wonky, wobbly, bassline-driven, trippy, melodic, nasty, gentle, deep, spacious, rocking and above all . 100% cool!!” Offering a premium selection of underground House, Lee’s DJ sets are never the same twice . they have to be heard to be believed . so, what better way to showcase this sublimely varied mixture of vibes than on a triple disc mix for one of the world’s leading compilation series, ‘Balance’ ?!

In a career that now spans two decades, Lee Burridge is a globally acclaimed DJ who regularly appears in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list, and has rocked iconic festivals like Exit, Creamfields, Love Parade, Dance Valley, Ultra, Acafest and Coachella. He’s commanded no less than four compilations, including two for the world-beating Global Underground series, and has thrown his own The Burridge Barrage party at the Miami Winter Music Conference for the last three years’ running. And, in between all of this, he’s found the time and energy to travel the globe thrilling clubs from Jakarta to Johannesburg, and fulfilling residencies from New York to Sydney. However, while all of this is very nice, if Lee has any say in it, it’s the development of his ‘365′
project that evokes the most pride. Fuelled by the monotony of unrelenting travel and launched in 2005, ‘365′ was a unique idea that saw Lee assume bi-monthly residencies in seven different hubs around the world (New York, Ibiza, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Denver and Hong Kong) with the sole aim of growing the relationship between himself and his crowds. “I wanted to expand the impact that an international DJ could have on seven different countries/cities, so I set about playing in each place for a couple of months every year”, he explains. “I wanted the crowds to really get to know me – my sound, my vibe – and it’s been an incredible journey watching our mutual understanding of one another grow and grow.” Now in its third year, ‘365′ also sees Lee hooking up with local producers in each city/country to hit the studio and write tracks .

Did someone mention writing music? Great. Because despite a self-proclaimed, decade-long lack of inclination, Lee managed to get off his talented bum and start wrestling with keyboards and computers to make music a couple of years ago. Good thing, too . because his first solo production, the ‘Lost and Found EP’ (Fire), was snapped up by James Lavelle’s ‘Global Underground’, Cass’s ‘Prologue’, and Sancho Panza’s ‘Carnival’ compilations. Most recently, Lee’s affinity with studios and machines that go ‘bing’ has spawned his very own label, ‘Almost Anonymous’, which he’s using to send tracks knocked up on the ‘365′ project to market. In fact, by the end of the year, tracks alongside the likes of Andy Page, Dan F and Steve Porter will all be hitting online and offline shelves!

With 2007 well underway, as usual, Lee’s got his nose to grindstone and loving every minute of it – mind you, compared to electrocution, it’s probably bliss! On top of his ‘Almost Anonymous’ releases, his third annual LoveLee Party at the September 2007 LoveFest San Francisco will be twisting a few hundred minds. he’ll also be changing lives forever at the USA’s Burning Man Festival . oh, and then there’s the small matter of touring the planet to support his illustrious x3 disc mix for the uber-underground, world-renowned Balance compilation series. Having featured the likes of James Holden, Chris Fortier, Desyn Masiello, Paolo Mojo and Luke Fair, Australia’s ‘Balance’ CD’s have become an industry benchmark . and with Lee commanding his own within the coming weeks, it’s set to reach even greater heights. To support its highly anticipated release, Lee will be embarking on a world tour . so don’t miss your chance to see him in action, in a town near you!

“With an eclectic passion for new music, Burridge is always on the lookout
for additions to his impressive arsenal of diverse records” – Remix Magazine

“Lee Burridge: two-decade champion of UK tech-house and breaks, known for
delivering blistering 12-hour sets in the venerable “international DJ”
tradition” – Flavorpill.net

“Lee Burridge likes to party with the best of us, reads a crowd like no
other, and plays some of the most mind-boggling, genre bending and
jaw-dropping records you’re ever likely to hear.” – Beatfactor.com
