Made Event presents Marco Carola with Martin Buttrich (live) @ Cielo – Friday Oct 19

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Made Event presents Italian techno stalwart MARCO CAROLA with MARTIN BUTTRICH (live) at intimate dance music boîte Cielo on Friday, October 19th, 2007.

With a vast array of production credits and a whole host of labels under his belt (Design, 1000, Zenit, Question, Do.Mi.No), Marco Carola has emerged in the last decade to be one of Italy’s most influential exports of techno and electronic music. As a DJ, he says “I think my style’s always been changing. I started with house music, I went tribal techno, and now I can say I play more minimal techno. I can say that I’ve never really been going through trends. From my background, from house to techno, I would call it a new house or a new techno, this is what I call it right now. It’s been a little difficult in the last 2 years to let people know I’m not playing that hard. But the old crowd seems to accept the new sound – when I’m sampling minimal, it doesn’t mean I’m sampling boring minimal; I always keep my funky side.” Carola released his debut mix compilation last year on Fabric’s venerated club series, Fabric 31, truly cementing his global DJ standing. Now with his new label Do.Mi.No, with 12 releases planned in the series, Carola is unleashing his more minimal side of music.

Martin Buttrich has been involved in such a large number of productions since his early days in Hanover circa 1995. Since then he has collaborated with many artists, most famously with Timo Maas and Loco Dice, as well as delivering high end Italo House for labels such as AM:PM, Twisted and Defected as Sounds of Life with Andy Bolleshon. Buttrich was so prolific in fact, he started a trend of delivering a record in one alias and remixing it himself under another. Now with his own productions storming on Steve Bug’s highly prized imprint, Pokerflat, Four:Twenty Recordings and on the absolutely legendary and truly old school label Planet E run by Paperclip People wizard Carl Craig, Buttrich is poised to embrace his own underground notoriety.

In July 2007, Martin Buttrich and Dice founded the Düsseldorf-based label Desolat. Both Dice and Buttrich had a long-standing artistic career in music before they decided to take a challenge and create a platform to release music they like independently and quickly. The first release on Desolat comes from Dubfire (aka Ali Shirazinia) – one half of the electronic music duo Deep Dish. The legend says that Dubfire created RibCage after he heard one Loco Dice DJ set at DC 10 in Ibiza.

Steve Lawler returns with “Viva London”

Monday, October 15th, 2007

stevelawlervivalondonpackshot1.jpgSteve Lawler returns to the compilations arena with ‘Viva London’, a 2 x CD, musical insight to his monthly residency at The End, a night he’s justifiably proud of, “VIVA Harlem Nights has been running for nearly 6 years at The End in London and it was time lay down a permanent celebration of the night.” And what a celebration! Steve’s London is a twisted hedonistic world that oozes dark funk, sexy sleaze and sinister fun through an expert blend of the world’s best producers. “There’s some very exciting music out there,” he elaborates, “The hardest call was what I should leave off. I decided to put a mix together of tracks that I have been heavily supporting this year. At the night itself I play for 5 hours so re-creating the club atmosphere within the 2CDs – which is only a 2 ½-hour timeframe – was really tough, but you get the picture of how the night starts musically, what the vibe is and how it ends.”

Drawing on the likes of David K, Gel Abril, Samim, Dubfire, Simon Baker, Bushwacka!, Martin Eyerer and, most importantly, two brand new, exclusive cuts of his own, Steve’s created an album that will undoubtedly stand the test of time – what better way to pay tribute to the night itself?

Looking to the future, the series of albums will take in other cities that play host to Viva, the next volume coming from Steve’s very successful residency in Toronto. But for now, please enjoy the weird, wonderful soundscape that’s Lawler’s London!

Steve Lawler – Viva London is out via Renaissance Recordings on October 30.

Morgan Page announces the launch of Nuance Recordings

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

nuancelogoblue.jpgAfter a series of chart topping dance floor remixes and a cult-favorite bootleg album, DJ / Producer Morgan Page is pleased to announce the launch of his new label Nuance Recordings. A vehicle for both his remixes and original productions, Nuance Recordings is another step in the rapid growth of this fine young talent.

Morgan Page has never been bound by the constraints of the music industry and he always plays by his own rules. With few label options for a young DJ/producer to turn, in 2006 he self-released the bootleg remix album Cease And Desist. Comprised of his unauthorized remixes of songs from popular music acts including Coldplay and David Bowie, Morgan took on big music and won. The album drew raves reviews in magazines and websites all over the world and it became a cult classic with fans. Ironically, rather than receive the cease and desist letters from the major labels, the album actually provided the labels with a solid showcase of Morgan Page’s work. It wasn’t long before he was hired by the majors to legally remix tracks from their hottest artists. He now works regularly with Warner Bros, Wind Up, Sanctuary, Concord Records, Interscope, Geffen, and Virgin, and has remixed mainstream acts including Nelly Furtado, Korn, Stevie Nicks & Angie Stone. Morgan Page has also landed three #1 Billboard remixes including Nelly Furtado “Maneater,” Delerium “Angelicus,” and most recently, Jody Watley’s “I Want Your Love.” His remix of Tegan & Sara’s single “Back In Your Head” will also be released soon via Warner Bros

morgan_page.jpg“Cease and Desist started as an experiment to see how these mixes would resonant with the public. I had no idea how people would react, but my friends and fellow DJs urged me to release the album. Next thing I know – the mixes are popping up on KCRW, getting played at Coachella, and the majors are asking for remix work,” Page says

Although Morgan Page is having great success with his mainstream remixes, his heart lies with the underground. After all, it was acts like Swayzak, Terry Lee Brown Jr. and Barada that first drew him into the world of electronic dance music. Prior to the launch of Nuance Recordings, Page successfully released tracks and EPs through respected labels including Bedrock, SAW, and Force Tracks. Nuance Recordings will now provide an outlet for Morgan Page to showcase his own original material on a regular basis (w/ occasional guests) directly through Beatport and via IODA for iTunes and smaller store accounts. Currently out now on Beatport is “Landline” (receiving full support from the likes of Sasha, James Zabiela, Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, and Nick Warren) and “The Tipping Point” EP. Please click here for a complimentary download of “Landline.”

Morgan Page plans to release his debut artist album in the spring through Nettwerk, featuring a selection of both his original productions and remixes. The album will be preceded by the November release of a brand new single through Nettwerk

Adultnapper Continues Enigmatic Manifesto : Ransom Note Part Two

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Eureka! Here we have some more clues into the nefarious mind of Adultnapper as he reveals his second secret weapon “Tewa” in his mysterious dance music arsenal – the aptly named Ransom Note record label. Let the mind games begin!

Adultnapper : Ransom Note Part Two “Tewa” with Matt Tolfrey & Inxec Remix
Available worldwide on limited edition vinyl Sept. 24th with digital release Oct. 9th

“Adultnapper is a rising star of the minimal house scene and this release ably demonstrated his skill at crafting delicate offerings of melodic techno. It’s the kind of record that will sound incredible both as the sun beats down on your back or when hiding in the corner of a dingy afterhours at seven in the morning. Gentle strings envelope you counterpointed by dark and twisted top lines in a tight musical journey. On the flip Left Room head honcho Matt Tolfrey has ripped things apart for a much straighter club orientated take on proceedings. Matt has well and truly nailed his remix, crafting a pulsating bass driven gem, that envelopes the club in a layers of bass and absorbs all who stand in its way. This is a stand out cut for us, and can do some serious damage if dropped at exactly the right moment. M7/M8” - M8

Ransom Note Part One: “Maxwell’s Demon” with Alexi Delano Mix

“Brooklyn native Adultnapper has been burning up accross the Atlantic for a few years now. Getting deep and dreamy with “Tewa,” he crafts a spellbinding journey through the minimal twilight hours. Busy bee Matt Tolfrey and Inxec get their grubby mitts on the original, warping it into an acid-fuelled, siren-laced, loopy piece of driving, late night techno. Brain juddering stuff. The summer’s been shit, this will make serious amends. 6/7″ - One Life To Live

“I have been consistently impressed by Adultnapper’s releases and this, his second track on his own label “Ransom Note” is no exception to his high quality, well produced standard. I love how he builds the layers of rattling percussion and leads into a rather large breakdown with a wicked buzzing synth line. It kicks back in with a nice warm melodic pad. Tewa has got a great summer vibe but still retains that trademark Adultnapper darkness. Matt Tolfrey and Inxec team up for the remix which, as you would expect, has an uber cool minimal vibe. Tolfrey’s name is everywhere at the moment and you can hear why when you listen to examples of his work like this. Great stuff.4/5” - DJ MAG

Trentemoller Live in Concert CD Release Party @ Rebel NYC Sat. Oct. 13th

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Made Event presents the NYC debut of Danish wunderkind Anders Trentemøller’s full band — TRENTEMØLLER LIVE IN CONCERT at Rebel NYC on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 with elaborate visuals by video director Karim Ghahwagi, for a highly entertai¬ning and capturing multi-sensual live performance.
Over the last one and a half years, Trentemøller and his live partner DJ “Tom” Bertelsen played more than 100 shows over the last with their raving and energetic live sets mainly based on Trentemøller‘s dancefloor singles. Now for the North American debut of Trentemøller Live in Concert, Trentemøller and the band will perform the tracks from the album The Last Resort live on stage for the first time!

Trentemøller Live in Concert
are Henrik Vibskov, Anders Trentemøller and Mikael Simpson. Apart from being exceptionally gifted musicians, Vibskov and Simpson are already very well known artists in their own rights. Henrik Vibskov (drums) is a famous fashion desig¬ner with exhibitions in Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and more, while Mikael Simpson (guitar / bass) is one of the most popular and gold selling danish singer/songwriters.

The Trentemøller Chronicles is Anders Trentemøller’s second full-length release, following his astounding and critically-acclaimed debut last year, The Last Resort on Pokerflat Recordings. This new double album is not a new studio album but, as the title indicates, an overview of Trentemøller’s impressive body of work. The Trentemøller Chronicles includes Anders’ personal selection of his best songs and remixes, which have only been available on vinyl or on compilations, as well as some new and exclusive songs. But the fantastic Trentemøller mix on CD1 and the fine selection of remixes on CD2 make this release a great double album in its own right for extraordinary listening pleasure. The Last Resort took the hearts of music lovers worldwide by storm.

At that moment in time the Danish producer had built his outstanding reputation on not only his huge dancefloor hits, but also the remix work he’d done for other artists. Trentemøller’s work is an organic combination of hand-played instruments and electronic sounds. Layer after layer of instruments fall perfectly into place and contrasting large and vast echoes and sharp, in-your-face sound bites mix with a dangerous but successful incompatibility. This Chronicle presents new songs and remixes and the best tracks and remixes that have only been available on 12″, all hand-selected by the artist himself. Artists in the mix also include: Klovn, Ane Trolle, Richard Davis, Mathias Schaffhäuser, The Blacksmoke Organisation, The Knife, Filur, Jokke Ilsøe, Robyn, Sharon Phillips, Tomboy, Moby and Djuma Soundsystem.
