SOS Boat Cruise featuring DESYN MASIELLO, OMID 16B & DEMI – August 2nd

Monday, July 21st, 2008
Sending out an SOS… sending out an SOS… All aboard the Queen of Hearts for a special Saturday night cruise on the New York waterways on August 2nd. At the helm of this voyage is London-based DJ collective SOS (aka SexOnSubstance), featuring Desyn Masiello, Omid 16B and Demi.

This summer boat cruise will also feature a tour of New York City’s Public Art Project WATERFALLS by the celebrated artist Olafur Eliasson. Get up-close at the cascading splendor of the breathtaking waterfall scenes as well as the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge, Governor’s Island, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty.

SOS are fresh off a world tour to promote their debut compilation on the venerable dance music label “Balance,” a 3 disc bonanza stacked with 56 tracks. Balance 013 marks the first time the trio has committed their energetic and eclectic sound to CD, and the result is nothing short of mind-blowing. Having locked themselves away for weeks, submerged in their home studios, SOS painstakingly programmed and pieced together a three-disc opus using many of their signature re-edits, top-drawer treasures from underground troves, and a few kinky surprises out of left field.

As friends, producers, DJs, label owners – and model clubland citizens – Demi, Desyn and Omid are three of the most passionate talents working in electronic music today. Taking inspiration from their SexOnWax and Deeper Substance imprints to form SOS in 2004, they’ve built a first-rate reputation for quality music, inventive mixing and an infectious party spirit, whether it’s on a boat along the Thames, deep inside Bedrock or Ministry of Sound, or glowing in the sun in Ibiza or Miami. Individually they are dynamite; collectively they are the bomb. Taking the art of DJing, moving it forward and making it truly progressive.

SOS Balance 013 is out now on EQ Recordings.

After a six-year hiatus from releasing compilations, DANNY TENAGLIA is back with double-CD set FUTURISM (Tommy Boy). Single “The Space Dance,” the first new original music from Tenaglia since 2004, was inspired by his sets at Space, the Ibiza superclub where he will also hold down a weekly residency – his first ever on the island – throughout the summer.

The adventurous, addictive FUTURISM captures the sounds that the beloved DJ/producer is playing right now. Featuring minimal tech grooves like “Filthy Phunk” (Shinedoe), “Rolling Brooklyn” (Luca Bacchetti), and “I Ment To Be Sharp” (Davide Squillace), the set is unmistakably of-the-moment. But unexpected explosions like “Tiir” (DJ Mosoga); haunting, disembodied vocals; and Tenaglia’s own secret samples bring the mix to deeper levels. It’s techy, it’s tribal, it’s twisted, yet somehow timeless: It’s unmistakably Danny.

“If you think of the word ‘techno,’ it’s just short for technology,” says Tenaglia. “What was Kraftwerk doing? What was Larry Levan doing up in the booth, with reel-to-reel and reverb? They were being experimental.”

At the time of his last compilation, “Back To Basics” (2002), Tenaglia was a resident at New York venue Vinyl/Arc. His weekly Be Yourself party was one of the city’s last havens for music lovers. When the club closed in April 2004, Tenaglia took to the road, and became one of the most successful touring DJs in the world. To date, he has traveled to over 28 countries, playing for crowds from 200 to 200,000.

Danny Tenaglia FUTURISM is out July 22nd on Tommy Boy.

The Housematic Sessions Part 1 out on the 15th of July 2008

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

“Tommyboy after his 2 decade long carrier is still working with the same
enthusiasm as in the beginning. Besides the Housematic mixes, nights and
radios shows he is also the owner of a few record labels and the regular
guest of the best Hungarian clubs and electronic music happenings like the
Flört, Corona, or the Sing-Sing. He started the first boat parties in
Hungary under the name of Boat Party. Besides this, he releases better and
better house tracks. The Justmusic 003 compilation was also organized by
Tommyboy. To cut a long story short, he became extremely successful starting
by winning the DMC championship in ‘93 or the invitation from Danny Tenaglia,
the Ministry and Renaissance tours last time in the Amnesia in Ibiza. An now
we can finally receive the latest mix album the Housematic Sessions Vol.1!

The mix album is seriously awaited, because Tommyboy’ all albums have been a
huge success. The album is going to come out from his recently started own
label the Housematic, and was made to represent the radio program with the
same name. Like you could guess from the title, this is the first piece of a
new series in which the artist tries to create the same atmosphere as of the
show which goes on every Saturday from 18 ’till 20 on the Justmusic.fm. From
these antecedents this album is surely to get very good responses.

The album contains both the latest and earlier hits from Hungarian and
foreign DJs also, even Tommyboy has several songs on it, like a remix for
Matthew Dekay’ big club anthem the Second Life, or a remake for the latest
bomb track, the MoLa feat. Onix – Hello. The magic starts with the wonderful
Island Breeze, in the version of the genius Trentemoller. Tommyboy packed
the album full of the most emotional house tracks all of them are full of
sensitivity, real “goose-bump making” melodies, vocals and grooves. So,
Julie Dennis’s Fever also got its place on the record, which came out from
Sultan’s new label the, Harem Records, with two Eps of mixes. On this
compilation you can hear Tommyboy’s dub mix also. To prove how Timeless
these songs are Matthew Dekay’s Timeless is the next to last track on the
record in the remix of Tommyboy. All is well if it ends well the last track
is a real joyride: Sultan & Tommyboy – Come Together, which we get in the LX
Dub version of John E & Diego Miranda.

All in all we got a real “Tommyboy” type of compilation, full of positive
energy, blood pumping hits. Nothing is more appropriate to listen to all
summer long than this record!

The Housematic Sessions Part 1 is going to come out on the 15th of July 2008
at the Beatport in a digital form so it will be available in all parts of
the world, later all the popular online music shops will put the record on
their digital shelves. Besides these you can buy the record in a CD form so
you can listen to it in your car on your way to the beach or the Balaton!”
