pvdi001Grammy-nominated artist DJ, label owner and global megastar Paul van Dyk needs little introduction. Dominating electronic music charts and appearing at the pinnacle of Top DJ lists the world over, van Dyk is one of the biggest icons in the electronic scene. With ‘best of’ album VOLUME to be released in the summer, a unique iPhone & iPod touch application will also be launched to celebrate this 3-disc album.

Paul van Dyk’s specially created application by Zip Design, developed by Yuza Mobile will appeal to fans, music enthusiasts and professional DJs alike, featuring a BPM Counter, Frequency Analyser, Decibel Meter, Seismic Reader, Virtual Glow Stick, DJ Check List and an Itinerary Manager (please see images below). The app will be available in localised language versions in many countries, reflecting PvD’s global popularity.

Alongside his DJing and production, Paul van Dyk is also renowned for his charity work, pioneering music projects that include working with The HR Symphony Orchestra, famous collaborations and remixes. The Paul van Dyk iPhone Application joins this list of innovative and boundary-breaking ideas that have helped to shape the career of one of the most forward thinking and biggest names in electronic music.

“I have had great fun being a part of the development team for my app over the past few months and think that both aspiring and professional DJs will have great fun using it. On a practical level, it includes everything that a DJ needs.”

Yeah what you dont do for money and popularity! Useless piece of junk!

  2. Mike says:

Can’t blame them for taking action on the very fast growing iPod application market. It’s a gold mine right now!

  3. Kris says:

I don/t blame them. I just see it as a piece of useless junk made for people who are way too “starstruck” to see what they are buying. People have a bad habit of thinking what comes from a celebrity must be quality. Wrong conclusion ;)

  4. Kim says:

I think you are being a bit overdramatic. It is fun like most apps. As a fan I like it so stop being haters.

  5. Kris says:

Not a hater just not a fan and never was a person who gets so “starstruck” so I have to buy useless gadgets from famous people.

  6. Mike says:

PVD marketing aside, being the first to create a Seismic Reader / BPM Counter / Frequency Analyzer / Noise Level as an iPhone app is very smart, these things don’t create themselves. (yet lol)

  7. Kev says:

Any club mixer should already have a BPM counter, why would you need a noise level meter?

“oh look, its LOUD in here!”

and the seismic reader? WTF does a DJ need a siesmic reader for? to be warned of imposing earthquakes so he can pack up his gear before the roof collapses?

marketing at it’s finest though. More power to ‘em
