Carl Craig Named Creative Director For MOVEMENT 2010

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

carlcraig-ondeckTechno Music legend Carl Craig has been named Creative Director for Movement 2010. Paxahau made the announcement today as they prepare for the start of Movement 2009 which began on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at noon.

“Movement is already a great festival and a successful brand,” said Craig, “it is an honor to be involved with Movement in this new capacity. I look forward to working with the team from Paxahau to take the artistic vision for the festival to a new level.”

In his new role Craig will be involved in various creative aspects of Movement including artist bookings and the festival’s brand image. He will also serve as an ambassador for the Movement festival as he travels the globe performing for throngs of electronic music enthusiasts.

“Detroit is such a wonderful music town,” Craig continued. “With Movement we have such a great opportunity to remind people from around the world and those that are right here in our own backyard that electronic music in Detroit is very powerful and that our annual festival is the best stage for showcasing the most talented artists of this musical genre.”

The annual Memorial Day Weekend festival has gone through several reincarnations since its beginning in 2000. Paxahau earned the right in 2006 to produce the festival. Since then they have been credited with bringing financial stability to the once fledgling festival and developing a festival atmosphere that appeals to fans because of the high standard of production quality they demand and their ability to book major local and international artists year after year.

Paxahau representatives were elated when Craig agreed to become creative director and believe his involvement will strengthen the future of the Movement festival in Detroit.

“We were extremely excited when Carl agreed to come on board as our new creative director,” said Jason Huvaere, president of Paxahau. “He has a complete understanding of the history of Techno Music in Detroit. He understands its impact around the world because he lives it every day.”

“Carl is a musical visionary whose ambassadorship is unparalleled. He will be able to capture the desires electronic music fans have for Movement and help us to incorporate them into future festivals.”

The South East European Music Event (SeeMe) was launched to create a hub for the regions’ industry professionals, artists and music fans.

South East Europe is also an exciting emerging market with many amazing festivals, a growing music industry and many new opportunities.

What is SeeMe?

SeeMe was conceived to create a connection between the industry professionals in the region and the event has opened doors where previously there were none.   For 3 days and nights Sofia, Bulgaria will open its doors again for artists, DJs, producers, club promoters, label managers, industry professionals and the numerous fans of electronic music.

The SeeMe Conference:

The conference will take place over three days and will feature key opinion leaders from the worlds music industry as well as key industry professionals from South East Europe. Wi-fi will be available for delegates at the conference center and this year SeeMe will provide an online database for delegates to schedule meetings in advance.

The SeeMe Festival:

The SeeMe official party will take place on Friday, 5th June at the Central Railway Station, Sofia and will feature four stages! Yes 4! This year the SeeMe festival will also include an Upcoming Artists Stage – for all artists who are seeking to break through – one flying start and a chance to perform alongside already respected names in the music scene. Top Bulgarian band Gravity Co will open the stage with a special live performance and the Drum & Bass Arena are also confirmed to visit Bulgaria for a second time with more to be announced soon.

The SeeMe Awards:

The SeeMe awards  after their successful launch in 2008, will now be an annual event to celebrate the best talent in South East Europe. Taking place on Friday 5th June, the Awards Ceremony will be presented by two of the biggest names in the South East European Music Industry, Tijana Todorovic and Nikolay Bakalov.

Tijana Todorovic has over 10 years experience in the music and entertainment industry and is is a Serbian multi-talent living in Belgrade, who is locally and internationally recognised as a TV presenter, DJ, vocalist, spokesperson for Exit festival, party girl and the nicest host you could have in Serbia.

Nikolay Bakalov is the vocalist of the top Bulgarian band Gravity Co, who have carved a niche with an original electro indie sound, with warm vocal melodies over pumping electronic beats. Having grown up in a show business family, Nikolay started performing at an early age and also worked as the host of a music show on Bulgarian National TV for three years.

Quotes:

“SeeMe was excellent both in it’s organization and in the reaction from the people of Sofia and elsewhere that came together. I loved being on the panel and it’s always good to play alongside a talent the size and stature of Jeff Mills. I had an absolute blast in Sofia and I’m looking forward to being back next year with a little luck!”Paul Woolford, UK

“SeeMe was an excellent ‘boutique’ conference which gave us the opportunity to spend much more time with everyone there which I think will serve to strengthen relationships for the future.” - Ed Real, Trackitdown, UK

“The SeeMe team were incredibly hospitable and I found it exciting and rewarding to be hearing new music and meeting new people in a region of the world that shouldn’t be overlooked”Nick Halkes, Incentive Music, UK

“We were delighted to have had the opportunity to take part in this new up and coming festival, Eastern Europe has some fantastic clubs and it was great that we had the chance to showcase MoS to some of the best promoters and club owners it has. You’ll be seeing much more MoS in Eastern Europe!” -
Jenni Cochrane, Head of Tours & Events, Ministry Of Sound, UK

“I think SEEME has once again shown growth on both the business side of things as the events. The warm welcome and enthusiasm of the people add so much spirit to the conference. It shows that the whole eastern European market is on the rise and not to be underestimated. Dance4Life is proud to be partnering with SEEME and will continue to do so in the future.” Wessel van Eeden, Dance4Life, NL

“SEEME was a very good opportunity to attract the attention of industry people from countries with long dance music tradition like the UK and the US. It was good for us to make a statement – something is happening over here and it is fresh and alive. It is worth coming to South East Europe and especially Bulgaria for business and party as well.” - DJ Steven, Metropolis, BG

“I had 3 days of good socializing and got a better understanding of the music industry in the region” - Stefan Popescu, Redbull, RO

“I found SeeMe very useful, and it was even surprising and positive how many Western European and American collagues were attending, great that there is an event turning the attention to this region, where there is a really exciting electronic scene. I will definitely come next year. See you at SeeMe” - Adam Berczes, CLS Records, HU

“I found SeeMe to be unique in SE Europe as far as organization, hospitality and the general ongoings are concerned. Organizing events, etc. in this part of the world is definitely no easy task and the SeeMe guys pass with flying colors. Also, the main thing is that there was actual business to be done rather than just partying.”Christian Cambas, Devilock Records, GR

“SEEME presents an opportunity for all music professionals from East Europe to get in touch with some of the most recognizable figures in the business from all over the world and get the feedback needed to continue their work in the highest level of professionalism possible, establish new contacts through which we can promote our music industry and create opportunities that would otherwise be impossible. SEEME creates a fresh insight into how much we have accomplished and how much more we can create and learn through joined energy, but not only through work, but through fun, exchange of ideas and excellent music.”Uros Jelic, B92 Radio, RS

“SEEME was great this year and I’m very happy being part of it. I think the venue was cool and the introduction of the awards was perfect. I also liked the panels and the speakers were perfect for the themes.” - DJ Icko, Antenna 5, MK

“SeeMe is an up and coming, growing each year, evolving conference, that continues to educate and open the minds of a people gifted and driven to be creators of music. Balancing them with creativity and knowledge, as well as bridging the gap in styles and inspiring the best in all of us!”Barbara Tucker, Bstar music group, USA

Steve Angello vs. Paris Hilton | Pacha NYC presents – Friday, April 17

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

THE story of WMC wasn’t a single big track, or an epic DJ set, or your friends getting so wasted that they got lost downtown and had to walk home across the bridge. Nope, the thing that everyone was talking about was the smackdown between the newly minted hero of dance music, Steve Angello, and the mistress of vapid evil, Paris Hilton.

We’ll keep it short. LIV nightclub at the Fontainebleau. Angello tearing it up. Hilton arrives with her nameless reality show boyfriend. Asks Angello to play hip-hop. Angello says in half-Swedish/half-tequila: “Hell no.” Full-on brawl breaks out between Nameless Reality Douche, Angello’s manager, and finally, Angello!

So Pacha is double-proud and super-psyched to welcome Steve Angello: Our Hero, and patron saint of every house DJ ever asked to play hip-hop.

Pacha NYC presents
STEVE ANGELLO

[swedish house mafia]
along with DAVID TORT

Pacha NYC presents STEVE ANGELLO from the Swedish House Mafia for a special NO REQUESTS Friday night on April 17, 2009.

Steve Angello kicked off his career in 2004 when he released ‘Woz not Woz’ alongside fellow Swede, Eric Prydz. From there he rose to fame producing under several aliases, remixing tracks for the likes of Moby, Goldfrapp, Royksopp and Deep Dish, releasing a Subliminal Sessions CD and keeping up with a global DJing schedule as part of the Swedish House Mafia. His diverse sets keep the crowds electrified, and no matter how many times you see him play, you will rarely hear the same track twice! His ability to connect with the crowd is intense, and it is as if he reads your mind when you hear the bass drop of a track you have been waiting all night to hear. The music screams at you; passion; commitment; dedication; focus; drive; and energy: music is no idle pastime for Steve, it’s everything.

Now Angello presents the 30th release on his own respected house label, Size: First Dimension on Size Records. The album is a classic mix including some of the label’s biggest hits from the funky electro sounds of Who’s Who “Sexy F**k” through to cutting-edge techno vibes of Mescal Kid “Majic”. The mix also features collaborations with Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke among others. Now together with his cohorts in the Swedish House Mafia, along with Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, the trio are slated to take over Pacha Ibiza this summer for a special Monday night weekly residency kicking off on June 22, 2009.

Basement Jaxx to play live at International Music Summit, hosted by Pete Tong

Basement Jaxx IMS

Basement Jaxx to play live at IMS Grand Finale at Ibiza World Heritage Site

** The Filthy Dukes, DJs Richie Hawtin, Pete Tong and Rob da Bank to perform **

** Label showcases from Rekids, Toolroom, Pacha Recordings and CR2 **

** Speakers confirmed from Nokia, Disney, AEG, Big Chill, Ingenious and BBC Radio 1 **

The International Music Summit, now in it’s second year and hosted by Pete Tong is shaping up as a force to be reckoned with, with just under 150 delegate badges left available, panel discussions with leading industry figures, an intimate evening showcase, and a now a spectacular grand finale are set to open the summer’s traditional Ibiza season.

The three-day music summit will culminate with a dazzling live event at the stunning location in Ibiza’s Dalt Vila. This famous UNESCO World Heritage site will set the spectacular backdrop for the IMS: 09 Grande Finale with a live show featuring the Grammy & Brit award winning Basement Jaxx playing an exclusive live set alongside emerging act The Filthy Dukes. DJs include BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Richie Hawtin and Rob da Bank.

The IMS have announced that 700 tickets will be available to the public for this landmark event. The IMS:09 will be the first international contemporary music event to take place within the historic Moorish walls of the old town, overlooking the Mediterranean, and annually home to the Ibiza Jazz Festival. The Consell Insular d’Eivissa (Ibiza local government), are co-sponsors of the IMS: 09 event, sending a strong message of support and approval to the electronic gathering.

Basement Jaxx, famous for their flamboyant live stage shows, will perform fully live to kick-start their summer tour. It will act as a first opportunity for anybody to see the new show. The band states:

“We’re delighted to have been asked to close the Grand Finale of the International Music Summit 2009 inside the castle at the top of the old town of Ibiza. To play such a spectacular and intimate venue on the island where we’ve had so many good times was a temptation we couldn’t turn down. What a brilliant way to kick off summer 2009!”Felix & Simon, Basement Jaxx

Basement Jaxx will also appear at the IMS summit itself, being interviewed by Pete Tong in front of the electronic industry; about how they’ve made the step from parties in Brixton to Brazilian festivals to become one of the most successful dance acts to emerge from the scene in the last 20 years.

The best way to hear The Filthy Dukes is to see their live show, which they modestly claim are “damn good so you should really come and experience it for yourself.” — Can’t say much more than that… BBC Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, founder / promoter of Bestival and Camp Bestival fame, will join IMS partner Pete Tong, to provide the DJ soundtrack for the evening.

Pete Tong states:  “This is my only performance of the Ibiza opening weekend and after three days of intense debate; it will be a night to celebrate. To see the Jaxx in the most historic location on the island will be a moment to remember. Sunset in Dalt Vila will never be the same.”

The IMS summit content is shaping up nicely too; with additional speakers being added to the already impressive line-up. With no doubling up of panels to create focus, they are gaining a well-deserved reputation for helping to shape the future of the electronic music scene.

The latest speaker additions include Mark Selby, the Vice President of Nokia Multimedia worldwide, who has history with Ibiza after creating the first ever mobile phone initiative in Ibiza in 1999 with IMS partners Ben Turner and Pete Tong. In addition, Ted Cohen from TAG Strategic will feature in a presidential style debate. Cohen was formerly Vice President of Digital Development at EMI. Martin Morales from Disney Music Group joins the synch session, whilst the legendary audio genius behind Funktion 1, Tony Andrews, will also speak about the increasing importance of educating about good sound to the iPod generation. Other names of note include artist Mark Knight, plus representatives from The Big Chill, AEG Europe, Ingenious Media and BBC Radio 1.

The full list of new additions is:

* Amy Thomson, Dex-Ray, UK
* Callum Negus-Fancey, Let’s Go Crazy, UK
* Caroline Prothero, Prohibition DJ, UK
* Chris Greenwood, Big Chill, UK
* Cliff Fluet, Lewis Silkin, UK

Moon Nightclub Las Vegas Has Sweet Tooth for Hed Kandi

Europe’s House Phenomenon lands Monthly at Moon Nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort

(Las Vegas, Nev.) March 30, 2009 – When you think of Las Vegas, automatically the word party comes to mind. And no hotel is better affiliated with the word than the Palms Casino Resort. The Maloof-owned property whose nightlife management is directed by the N9NE Group has gone into partnership with Europe’s #1 nightlife brand Hed Kandi to bring the authentic UK clubbing experience to Sin City.

“Musically, Hed Kandi is all about style! Judging by the number of requests for what some people now term Hed Kandi music, its sound has almost become a genre in itself. First and foremost the brand is about seriously good club music. To define that more clearly it would be true to describe this as predominantly vocal, soulful house, US garage and glittering disco – always deliciously stylish, of course!” says Andy Horsfield, President of Hed Kandi America.

Part of the partnership will also include the release of HED KANDI LAS VEGAS CD. The compilation will be recorded and mastered in the Palms Recording Studios and made available via iTunes. This endeavor will be a first for both properties.

“We are excited for this new relationship with Hed Kandi and look forward to expanding the experiences we currently offer our guests at Moon Nightclub,” said Vice President of N9NE Group, Michael Fuller. “Over the course of this next year, our goal is for our venues to continue to be globally recognized for offering the best mix of music in Las Vegas, and the addition of Hed Kandi is a perfect step in that direction.”

Hed Kandi will present their events monthly is conjunction with GOODLIFE Sundays at Moon Nightclub. Guests may expect both live performances and DJs during the night bringing that quintessential Hed Kandi sound.

About Hed Kandi:

Launched in 1999, Hed Kandi has evolved from humble beginnings as a compilation brand into the global phenomenon it is today. With a catalogue spanning over 60 albums, a number of artist projects and three UK Top Ten singles and a host of Top 40 hits to date, Hed Kandi is now a globally respected brand.

Delivering these styles of music with a sense of humor to grown-up clubbers eventually snowballed into Hed Kandi parties and their first full residency began in London in 2002. The buzz about the most lavishly produced club events seen in the UK at that time soon spread and the first parties were road blocked. The popularity of the nights increased exponentially so that residencies started to crop up all over the UK. Hed Kandi parties now happen in all continents of the globe – a true phenomenon.

Then of course there’s Hed Kandi’s radio empire – currently pumping out six broadcasts of the hottest tracks every week in the UK across the Galaxy network and on MoS radio.

About Moon Nightclub:

The Palms Casino Resort’s Fantasy Tower ups the ante for luxurious suites, over-the-top amenities, gourmet dining and serious partying in Las Vegas. The N9NE Group operates Moon, the exclusive penthouse nightclub loaded with high-end finishes, VIP accommodations and a spectacular view of the Las Vegas Strip.

Moon occupies the very top floor of the Palms’ Fantasy Tower, just above Nove Italiano, and is connected to the Playboy Club by glass and mirror-ensconced escalators.  Upon entering Moon, guests automatically find themselves in a dramatic, surreal environment unlike any other in Las Vegas. The floor is covered with shimmering glass tiles that change color via a computerized lighting system as guests move about them, while a curtain of glass beads hang over the majestic floor-to-ceiling windows.

Moon is intimate and exclusive and offers VIP amenities and state-of-the-art technology.  The club’s main room boasts what is arguably the most spectacular architectural feature in Las Vegas—a massive retractable roof that when closed, serves as a large video screen, exhibiting giant images of the action on the dance floor.  Cushy booths line the perimeter of Moon’s main room.  In the rear, another bar and two lounge-style rooms accommodate guests seeking a sensual, laid-back experience.

Moon Nightclub is open Tuesdays and Thursday through Sunday from 10:30 p.m. – 4 a.m.  For additional information, please visitwww.n9negroup.com or calling 702.942.7000.
