Proton Music was founded in April of 2005 by Proton Radio director and Particles host Jason Wohlstadter (aka Jay Epoch). The inspiration for the label came from it's first release, "Fingerpaint" by Digital Witchcraft, which at the time was having trouble finding a home.
The label aims to capture the variety of genres played on Proton Radio while keeping true to Jay Epoch's musical taste: atmospheric and melodic electronica. Over the past few months Proton Music has explored the sounds of progressive tech house. Now with Spring upon us we turn to melodic Techno first with an EP from the rising German duo Davis & May followed by a double-A side release from Umek.
Davis & May came out of the gate full throttle in 2007 supported by Sasha with their Neotron EP on Piemont records, the label & duos first release. Before long their music had been played by John Digweed as well. How is that for a start?
Now the two manage their own labels Maripoza and *back home as well as their monthly Proton Radio show. The Motion EP is their first solo release on Proton Music and features the absolutely orgasmic "Clouds Passing By" featuring visceral and evocative melodies that hark back to the labels "Fingerpaint" beginnings.
Support for the EP comes in from Proton's top jocks-- Anthony Pappa, Jody Wisternoff, and Jimmy Van M. Don't miss it!

Proton brings us "Motion" by Davis and May
"Clouds pass" introduces us, and it shapes up to an interested blend of soft sweeping background with a bitey little lead coming through. A simple octave riff works to tie the production together, more ambient then peak time.
"Positron" comes in with more dance flavour, it chimes in a way to build a real energy, some nice filtering but all in all it has energy and sends out a message to move. Has some nice resonants this and the high bassy s.... 4/5 [ Simon Latham]
