Proton Music was founded in April of 2005 by Proton Radio director and Particles host Jason Wohlstadter (aka Jay Epoch). The inspiration for the label came from it's first release, "Fingerpaint" by Digital Witchcraft, which at the time was having trouble finding a home.
The label aims to capture the variety of genres played on Proton Radio while keeping true to Jay Epoch's musical taste: atmospheric and melodic electronica. Visit ProtonRadio.com for the official Proton Music website with detailed information on all our releases and extended previews of all our tracks.
Proton Music releases biweekly on Beatport, iTunes, and other digital retailers.

PROTON0047 Derek Howell & Peter Martin - Loteq / Sextronics EP (Dec 17th, 2007)
Release Date: Dec 17th, 2007
» Reviewed: 3/5 [View]

The end of 2007 saw the triumphant return of progressive house, with some serious productions coming out or on the way that have breathed some life into the genre that was nearly overcome with an onslaught of overtly cacophonous electro house or melodically devoid minimal. Now out of Texas comes a release from two of the scene's stalwart champions.
Grunge and glitter fuse in classic Howell fashion for the original Loteq, with some epic melodies and catchy synth lines that should be a welcome addition to any progressive DJ's set. Opencloud turn the track on its head as usual, teasing out the harsher elements of the track and sowing together a tech house monster. Peter Martin's knack for lush progressive overflows in Sextronic, working together with Derek for a track with great energy and again some great hooks.
The two have a lot planned in the coming year, with a potential label and radio show in the works. And if you want more, Derek himself has a bunch of releases out recently on Hope, Groove Collection, and a remix for Proton Music.
1. Loteq (Original Mix)
2. Loteq (Openclouds Glowing Green Light Remix)
3. Sextronics (Original Mix)
