Proton Music was founded in April of 2005 by Proton Radio director and Particles host Jason Wohlstadter (aka Jay Epoch). The inspiration for the label came from it's first release, "Fingerpaint" by Digital Witchcraft, which at the time was having trouble finding a home.

The label aims to capture the variety of genres played on Proton Radio while keeping true to Jay Epoch's musical taste: atmospheric and melodic electronica. Visit ProtonRadio.com for the official Proton Music website with detailed information on all our releases and extended previews of all our tracks.

Proton Music releases biweekly on Beatport, iTunes, and other digital retailers.

Roger Martinez is leading the new breed of progressive producers as 2008 breaks upon us. With already a top ten bestseller on Beatport, inclusion on Jay Epoch's Particles "Drago" compilation, and a stellar EP on Eelke Kleijn's Outside the Box label, his latest outing is only the next step in establishing himself as a mainstay in the scene.

When "Prime Time" was first heard on Hisham Samawi's guest mix for Jody Wisternoff's Way Out There radio show we were hooked. The Retrospective EP is the resulting project, a 3 track progressive tech house collection destined for greatness.

Look for remixes of this EP later in 2008 alongside Roger's remix of Matt Rowan's "This That and the Other" due out later this quarter.

Reviewed:

This release has quite the composite of unique structures and catchy elements, of which indicate this new breed of modern tech/prog producers. Hard Nights Day is a quirky tech melodic track with a crescendoing synth line and catchy stab elements. Fit well into an edgier tech house set quite nicely, and it's a great listen but not necessarily practical to mix with due to it's complexity. Cosmopolite is a great modern groovy house track, a bit of a tech edge to it, but mostl.... 4.5/5 [mike]
