Proton Music was founded in April of 2005 by Proton Radio director and Particles host Jason Wohlstadter (aka Jay Epoch). The inspiration for the label came from it's first release, "Fingerpaint" by Digital Witchcraft, which at the time was having trouble finding a home.
The label aims to capture the variety of genres played on Proton Radio while keeping true to Jay Epoch's musical taste: atmospheric and melodic electronica. Melbourne's Sam Fraser's favorite color is green. He likes cigarettes, beer, and doesn't enjoy long walks on the beach. As a winner of the local Kiss FM station's bedroom DJ competition, Sam has pursued his DJ'ing career from strength to strength and now finds himself producing his own music. He also manages Luke Chable's Melburn FM radio show on Proton with co-host Katie Drover, and is billed on the all-Australian music event "Kiss My Grass" in early 2008.
Music by Sam Fraser can be found on the Arabica label, a digital imprint also based out of Australia and managed by Proton Radio show host Kriece. "Little White Lies", featured on this EP, caught the attention of Proton director Jay Epoch and appeared on his recent "Drago" compilation for Particles.
Keep an eye out for Sam in 2008 with lots of DJ mixes here on Proton alongside a new single "Ugar" forthcoming on the Chase the Cat label!

This is another incredible release from Proton Music. Sam Fraser is probably quite a modest fellow, but with huge production talents that are not to be missed. This EP is quite a great find on the search for top quality modern progressive today.
Sleep On It is a tech-y rolling progressive house type track with great feel and a really groovy flow. This is the type of quality that just makes you want to bounce, and makes a DJ go hmmmm, nice! This fits in well into great grooving at h.... 5/5 [mike]
