Dan Rouge - Time To Rock
  Label: Swordtail
  Released: December 17th, 2007
  Reviewed: 8/10
Swordtail's twelfth release comes from one half of the electro driven duo Rouge et Noir, mister Dan rouge himself.

The original has a solid drum production that stirs up the energy and gets busy right from the start. Following a trail of bleeps and added percussion an electrified bass groove dominates your ears until the catchy back and forth synth melody melts into play. A gradual build of chunky electro finally drops onto point and comes together with a strong kick. Although the melody has little variance and the addition of panning strings does little to break up the monotony Time to Rock definitely can rock its way into peak time play.

Hernan Gutmer provides you with a more progressive rendition of Time to Rock. This remix is more for the progger who wants little tid bits of electro elements with out jumping in feet first into the sea of electro glitches. An elevating prolonged synth joins Hernan's intricate drum production and falls into the background creating a hypnotic state. Although layered with other minor chords, echoed bleeps and descending runs, Gutmer's remix has little adjustment making it a tad drab.

Are very own PK gives us a dirty little tech number, filled with a heavily effected interpretation of Rouge's original electro melody. Pauls breathing bass creates a grungy groove entrapping you in its depths. Although a bit heavy on the flange at times, PK continuously alters the infrastructure with eerie breaks, escalating stabs, rendered melodies and mechanic builds.

Altogether a good release from a strong label with a broad offering of intelligent remixes.
