Massivedrum - Get On Da Floor (Renno Records)
Release Date: November 23rd, 2007

UC Dark Side is a division of UC Music Group, dedicated to the recording, remixing, licensing and promotion of progressive house and dark tribal releases.
This releaseGet On Da Floor comes from Massivedrum.

The original track starts of with a solid beat that has well laid out intro and female vocal.T his track is peppered with massive drum n bass style bass drone stabs and filters that add to the darkness and energy that arise form this track. The Use of the vocal n the arrangement works well and does not make the track cheesy or to overdone also. Very solid efx and arrangement. Also included in this mix which is refreshing is the lack of big break down which in this case helps keep the energy flowing solidly through the track and makes a breeze to mix.

The Dark Rhythm Mix starts off with a nice solid kick not to hard or soft with well played percussion that slowly builds leading to what can only be described as dance floor mayhem when the base line kicks in. The stabs in this track add a nice techy toughness to the track and flow very nicely along with what can be called finely arranged piece of mtrl. The Break down in this track helps add to the freshness of this track and also introduces new elements to the track and leads into crazy dance floor madness.

Label A&R Bruno Renno Brings his hands to the deck with this hard hitting pounding monster that has solid tough driving beats and stabs for an intro to let you know what you are about o be killed with once the track is mixed into full on explosiveness . The well placed vocal and filtering work and deep dark techy stabs in this track take it a step away form the original but tie it all together @ the same time. This is def not a mix t put on the side for sure. Dark is one word that comes to mind when describing this. If you like your stuff pounding dark and hypnotic this track is for you.
The Marcos Carnaval Remixstarts off wit some interesting percussion and is then lead into a filtered in kick which makes for a nice sounding intro but a bit technical to mix. Once the bass line drops in though a solid groove foundation has been made. Marcos makes use of the bass stab form the original also which I think could have been used more in this mix. The melody Marcos introduces in this track I am not a fan of mainly b/c of the patch played could of used a different sound but kept the melody in this reviewers opinion. Also there is a long kick roll as well while it does what it suppose to do add tension and help build the energy I just think they could have done without it in this track as its not a hard hitting track where it would have had more impact.

The Dj PetziMix starts off with what can only be described as a quirky sounding melody that leads into tough yet satisfying beat. There are presences of the og mix via the bass tab well used and the vocal. While I am not a huge fan of that underlying melody it is an interesting part and element to the track. This mix really starts to take form @ around the 3 minute mark and shine on its own even if only for 16 bars or so(would have loved to seen to evolve form this sound scape). Oddly enough that sound scape re appears 16 bars after it leaves and leads into a techy almost yesterday type of sound scape. To this reviewer this mix has several sound scapes that work on its own but as whole the way its arranged does not sit well . Although while not my fav mix so far it def has it place for the discerning dj and proper dance floor.

Rafe Nunez brings his heavy drums and darkness to the table. The well played intro and use of vocal make this mix a true aural pleasure to mix.Rafe makes perfect use of the bass stab from the original. The drum programming on this percussion in this track is well done and he takes a traditional yet over used snare roll and turns it into a monster by adding a delayed out quirky synth to the end of the synth that builds and adds massive tension that yields itself to a second half that has some wicked sound efx and arrangement. This mix is one of those gems that kinda stands out from the original to the point where some people may prefer it much more then the original.

Jay Montes Brings us his flavor with a nice techy synth we laid out intro. He also makes use of the bass stab as well and his bass line he adds makes for some awesome tribal grooviness. The slick use of the vocal in the arrangement adds to track as opposed to what can sometimes detract from the song .He has some very lovely stab work and what seems like arp style synth work as well that adds massive energy and sound scape to the track. This is one of those rare gems that you can use in a set along with another mix cause it so different yet well placed along the original. Also with the arrangement lends it self to being used @ several different times in a djs evening out.

The Skitish Rmx is more of an electro style mix not so massively drum heavy but has well played synths and very tidy useful efxs. The vocal is well used with a nice touch of verb and extension on the high notes to add a bit of pizzaz to the track . This is one of those mixes that is refreshing to hear even if not this reviewers fav ,b/c its so far from the original that it was not trying to emulate it but stand out on its own and still tie in to the og mix.

The Break down is perhaps the best [art of the track the way it strips down to bear silence and the vocal drops in and the a tiny drum fill leads back into the groovy side of the track.

While there are several mixes to this ep which to this reviewers drops a point @ least the mixes involved this pack each work on there own level.I think his pack could have done with perhaps splitting them up to make it 2 releases which one would think it would help with sales. With 8 mixes available it won't be hard to pick which ones to use but kind of takes away form what a truely great ep this could have been if them trimmed the fat .
