Moonbeam - Samurai EP (Proton Music)
Release Date: December 24th, 2007
Reviewed: 4/5
User Rating: 4.1/5

Proton Music newest offering by Moonbeam who you might remember from their previous release "snowfall", one i remember fondly gotta say. This next one seems a little unexpected judging from what i had heard before anyway.

Kicking off with "Insight" a fabulous little plodder nice little bass to it but an unexpected final key, oh what the hell :) it works! if changes and breakdowns is you thing, or screaming hands in the air, then yes this release is wrong for but its a nice warmer safe and well produced.

Sky might be a bit more of the moment if you want something with a bit more substance and this whole release could very well be exactly where dance is right now, more subtle to overwelming high impact tracks, but nice inclusion of carefully planned melody.

Samurai completes the pack offering something a bit more nasty and a touch more attitude but peel back a few of the obvious layers and there is some nice inclusions of notes. Still, not totally convinced i guess i just cant seem to push out of my head irritating images of nodding puppets arm over the open window of their car in another damn jeans commercial.

Proton, in taking no chances with this one and covering a mixture of emotions might of been wise to opt for this as a two track pack as you had me on track two, but still as this stands this is not what i expected from Moonbeam nor from Proton, guess time will be the only test on this offering!
