Various Artists - A Priori and Signals (Proton Music)
Release Date: February 7th, 2008

A sweetly melodic offering is put to us by PROTON MUSIC.

Opening with Eelke Kleijn Remix and A priori originally by Last Atlant. This tune crosses genre border and injects new sound on dancefloors, sitting on a bass with some real bounce you are introduced to a a facinating combination electric clavs, sweeping pads and expressional beats in following a progressive feel it steps to tech like sounding, proving how progressive house art continues to grow.

It great to see a label with a safe rep like proton step out to do something different and the Naveen G remix on A Priori definately is this, Electro sounds. the leads sweep from up to down, riding on a move modest beat combination, by the time it really kicks the energy begins flowing before dropping down to give you a moment to reflect on this wave upon wave of musical expression.

Benz and MDs "Signals" steps up for remix next and AFKs Ogopogo Remix immediately kicks in with deep bass, arpeggios, sat on a soft breakbeat pattern, definately a track that would do more justice on the dance floor, this will make you move and pushes real poke at the mid.

The final remix AFKs Dragon Dub continues on the theme from the Ogopogo remix but this time, bang and its in, aside from the occasional breating space withing this comes with a bit more punch, more is made from the arpeggios the breakbeats are harder and the bass hit with more character.

The progressive sounds of this is like a final coat of varnish across the whole release, its kind of like Proton want to step out from there genre but still had to prise this back into the box ready for release, this being said in a positive way as the final offering could win favour from non-prog djs alike.

My own verdict is a great one on it, i like to see a label pushing for something a little bit different and this has that, can imagine proton winning over support from new djs on this :)
