Stendek - Intch
(Phatt Sounds)
Release Date: December 31st, 2007
Reviewed: 3.5/5
Love the release info, "Minimal stuff with various remixes". No bull shitting here that's for sure! They just tell it as it is and don't try to blow smoke up your ass and you have to respect that approach I think. The first tune is actually really good I'd say. Stendek - Intch has a lot going for it. Nice bass line that's really pokey but grooving and it has nice panning to keep your attention. The drum programming has a lot going on but they all play nicely with each other and they don't flood you all at once. Each track has room to breath and you can hear them all clearly. Good production, engineering and song writing. The only knock on this tune is the very short length. Most DJ's won't even think twice about this tune after looking at the length, but with a few edits here and there with some clever uses of the filters you can make it longer without it becoming to monotone. The first remix of Intch by Chris As per starts out strong with a solid kick and percussive groove. The bass line moves and grooves its way and is hard to resist moving to. It just lifts the melody straight from the original but changes it enough to work with all the new elements. This one is a bit more banging and I see more DJ's playing this version versus the original as it is a bit longer and more DJ friendly as far as mixing it. The Biotic remix of Intch is no slouch either. May not seem like much compared to the Asper remix but it does stand on its own two feet. It's more grinding compared to the original and Asper remix but it still moves and grooves and has the original melody and just twists it to no end. Perfect material after the peak time to just give a proper head phuck and keep the crowd going. Stendek - Nock Knock is an odd tune at first. It doesn't sound like it's doing much, except trying to be a minimal track and nothing more. But once you actually sit down and listen to it you see there's a lot of subtle nuances that don't jump out at first. Subtle use of effects to produce a not so subtle result. Perfect material to build up the anticipation for what’s to come but enough to keep them moving and not bored. But once again the only bad thing about this tune is the length, just to short like Intch was. Not a bad release by any stretch. Lots of potential for the original two tracks to be club monsters with a little work without losing their artistic integrity but the remixes pick up the slack and deliver.
