Moog Conspiracy - Elements of Density Remixes (Elektrotribe records)

I'd like to start out by saying I haven't heard the originals of any of these tunes so I'm just reviewing this based on the quality of the remixes without comparing them to their original counter parts. 6 tunes to review a gain for a single release once again so hang in there. The first tune up is Moog Conspiracy - Shaking Particles (Nick Zero Newtron mix, a really moody number that uses tech-y sounds but they sound really organic and come to life. The drum programming is really tight and creates a solid groove and uses filters to full effect without over doing it. The bass line is really deep and warm and just rolls in and out. The main melody, while being simple, does a good job and doesn't get stale. It comes seems to move and does what it wants without becoming monotonous. While not really doing much, it does enough at the same time. This is one that's going to be getting time in my record box. Really deep and tech-y and I don't see how anybody can't use it. The Jacob Seville remix of Shaking Particles has bit less intensity compared to the Nick Zero Newtron mix, but still delivers. It just grinds its way through with a solid groove that's simple but un-relentless at the same time. The track as a whole is really stripped down to three main elements. A solid tech-y bass line, a catchy melody that twists and turns its way through out and solid drum programming. It doesn't try to be more than it is and knows its place. Solid filler material that I would play in a heartbeat. Two for two so far, but can they keep the quality going? We have Moog Conspiracy - Dark Side Of The Moog (Berlin edit)up next, and what a treat it is! The bass line is really mean and tough. It has a nice growl and is really low. Won't sound like much at home but on a club system it will do some damage. The melody is really haunting and doesn't do much, but it does get your attention. It sounds a bit detuned and that works well for the atmosphere this track is creating. Another keeper in the record box without a doubt. The Alex Tomb remix of Dark Side of the Moog is another classy number. It uses a 16th note swing for the percussions that is used to create amazing results. Lots of tension to say the least. And the bass line compliments it well with its 8th note stabs, but that's where it stops really. Not really a tune per se, but a tool more than anything. For what it is and what it does, I like it though and it can be used to great effect if the DJ is experienced and knows how to tease their audience. Yet again we have another remix of Dark Side of the Moog by Daniel Esperanza. This track doesn't waste any time getting right down to it. That bass line just comes rolling in and doesn't stop. The kick is nice and deep at the same time while not interfering with the bass so there is some quality engineering on this track. The melody is really haunting so I can only imagine that's straight from the original as the previous two remixes have it as well. A lovely little tune that has the same qualities as the other two remixes but at the same time being different. Last up to bat to see if they can keep the quality at a high level from start to finish is Moog Conspiracy - Taste Me (Voodoo J remix), and al l I have to say is WOW. This track is by far the highlight of this release. If you like Matthew Edwards then you'll LOVE this track. It's long without being boring, a lot going on will not losing its focus and moody as hell. I don't even know how to describe this tune as nothing really stands out but when it's all brought together it creates this amazing piece of music that will work well on any dance floor. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. I went into this review never hearing any of these tracks/artists/label and came out with a solid release top to finish. You can do no wrong picking up any of these as they are versatile but memorable enough to stand out on their own.
