TerraPlastik - Morning After EP (Peak Hour Music)
Release Date: February 28th, 2008
Reviewed: 3/5
User Rating: 3.1/5

Overall this release doesn't seem very much like true minimal, the Morning After Ep is more like tech house without much going on. The difference is in the lack of unique sounds and patterns which is what minimal is all about. Now that is not to say this isn't worth a listen.

Dubai Nights has a decent humpy bassline and tech house percussion, but the horny synth stabs aren't very intersting.

Atari Dreams has some cool toms and little sounds going on in the background but the main synth pattern sounds like some video game music that makes me want to pull my hair out.

Violent Skies is darker and more reserved, with much better results. I really like the bubbly liquid sounds filling in the background.

Rigor Mortis is more of the same but not as annoying as the first two, more interesting percussion patterns with clap and snare fills scattered about.

The one thing that seems to tie these together is the 8 bit synths but the simplicity in patterns, repetitious structure and lack of really exciting production technique make this a rather mediocre release.
