Quivver - Dirty Nails & Vapour Trails (Boz Boz Recordings)
Release Date: July 8th, 2008
Reviewed: 3.5/5
User Rating: 4.4/5

John “Quivver” Graham, whose musical career over the last 15 years has brought us works under various monikers including, Space Manoeuvres, Stoneproof, Skanna, and Tilt (with Mick Parks & Mick Wilson), now brings us “Dirty Nails & Vapour Trails” on his own Boz Boz imprint.

It should come as no surprise then, that there are some solid progressive house and techno tunes on this mixed genre album, and personally I would go for the dj versions, but as a whole the album has a nice flow and for the most part is good listening in its entirety. Plus, it grows on you; Graham has a sincere voice and the majority of the lyrics are quite intriguing, albeit at certain points slightly emo-rockish.

Surin is one of my favorite songs on here, with its classic progressive echoing synth lead and pleasantly gentle melodies.

2 Notes ‘n’ a Beat is a fairly good techno track underpinned by a sort of guttural moan, lending a unique flavor.

Dancing in Darkrooms would have to be another favorite on this album, with its current prog tech house sound, driving bass, and a rather tongue in cheek robotic vocal. It’s fun and has excellent energy.

I like the concept, the variety, and the deep bottom end on some of these tunes; it’s definitely worth a listen.

Quivver rocks, he has been producing top quality music for over 14 years and is still doing the business today, there are not many producers that you can say that about! (0)
