Dirty Disorder - Ego Trippin / Robotics (Hot Kitchen Records)
Release Date: July 8th, 2008
Reviewed: 4.5/5
User Rating: 3.8/5

Coming in at #1 this week on the MyPromoPool top 20 chart (and only his second release!) is Dirty Disorder’s Ego Trippin / Robotics, out on the relatively new sizzling hot Dutch label, Hot Kitchen. Ego Trippin demonstrates some excellent filter work on the lead synth, opening it up at all the right moments, while at other times filtering off the high end, keeping the synth more subdued in the mix. Drawing its energy from a driving tech house percussion and techno bass combo, with an almost progressive type synth layered in, this one is sure to see rotation on the DJ circuit. The synth section, and the whole track for that matter, has that very current techno sound with its arrangements building into a fantastic rolling melody, while the pads and sweeps fit in perfectly, boosting the energy level even further.

Robotics exhibits more hefty synth work, with a few effects here and there to break things up. While it’s a fairly simple chord arrangement, it seems to work because the lead synth is kept from being too overpowering, again with the filter cutoff. The bass and other elements work extremely well with each other, generating a tight bumping groove. This one would be a perfect mid set builder.

Dirty Disorder has definitely captured the hot sound of now; this fusion of techno and progressive elements has been gaining momentum for sometime now and it’s the kind of material working its ways into techno and progressive DJ sets across the globe.
