Room 101 bring us "Surface Missing" on Arktikism Recordings. About Now is clearly your typical progressive tune, pads sweep in the back, the bass goes for the rhythm and the lead chimes at the forefront; it’s a nice filler. Not groundbreaking, but it is done well. I quite like the tom-toms kicking through on this, but maybe not as often as they appear here, kudos for a few nice melodic moments in there. Surface Missing enters with a little more attitude, dark and aggressive, before the chimes filter in. This could maintain a good flow for the dancefloor but I can’t see this being a highlight. Maybe progressive is getting bad press these days and this pack might be a format we are familiar with, but packs like these have as much right to feature as other genres. Of course, high expectations come with such a release so we’ll have to see how this one does.
