Audittive - 7 Chakras EP (Kansak Recordings)
Release Date: August 8th, 2008
Reviewed: 3.5/5
User Rating: 3.8/5

If you love your progressive dark and powerful, you will want to get your paws on the "7 Chakras EP," by South American artist Audittive. Kansak Recordings delivers a fine package here, without a doubt.

The A-side track, 7 Chakras, is a beautifully put together minimal progressive piece, that will make for an excellent opening track. Opening up with a minimal chuggy beat, that's complimented by some light percussion elements. Things get moving with a dark bassline that drives the track. Early on, there is a one-bar break that introduces a beautifully filtered and distorted vocal, which is reminiscent of the classic Blue Haze track "Into Nothing." 7 Chakras delivers a nice punch, and doesn't have too much going on, which makes it very inviting to DJ's, because of the potential for a very long, smooth transition when leaving the track.

The B-side, Black Kitten's Groove maintains a similar feel, but with much more of a punch. Things start off heavy, with a dark, driving bassline, and the track lifts off with the introduction of crystal clear percussive elements, and a distorted bassline. All the elements fall into place to make this an excellent building track for DJs, with it's dark, but very bouncy groove.

Audittive does an excellent job in this release at using a minimal amount of elements to make a powerful presentation. Both tracks are well produced, and well programmed. This release is far from groundbreaking, and probably won't be the anthem we remember the summer of '08 by, but it's tracks like these that make me confident that progressive is headed in the right direction.
