Samy Fresh - Summer (featuring remixes by Yura Popov, Overcast, Python)

Polytechnic Recordings is fast becoming prolific in terms of the volume of their recent releases, and to be fair the quality has been pretty good too. Perhaps there is a correlation between the amount of passing yards from hometown QB Jay Cutler and the number of releases on the imprint! 100 yards per release perhaps? Anyway I digress!

This release comes from Samy Fresh and is entitled "Summer." We are treated to Yura Popov, Overcast and Python remixes.

The original mix is a chunky progressive track with some techy bleeps and sweeps added in for good effect. Several sounds and effects build slowly leading to a neat drop out. A nice tune with sound musical elements.

Next we have the Yura Popov remix, which showcases some key parts of the original, but also provides more drive. The drums could be a little more crisp but the overall standard of the mix is high. A nice alternative for sure.

Thirdly there is the Overcast remix, which is similar to the other two versions, but with more power in the bass drum. Some nice atmospherics also add value to the production. Again a solid remix and perhaps a favourite of the 4 on show.

Finally, and wrapping things up, is the Python remix. This mix has a little more groove to it, as well as an extended drop out, yet brings a similar vibe as the preceding mixes.

This release from Samy Fresh falls into the "good" category. Perhaps a couple of alternative remixes, say in a tech or breaks style, would have added more cross appeal to the package. Still, it's a release that's definitely worth checking out.
